CBP's latest reported figures, from a declaration filed with the Court of International Trade, show refunds as of September 11, 2026:
- About 27.2 million entries accepted through CAPE
- About $134.7 billion in potential and certified refunds accepted
- About $122 billion certified and sent to the Treasury for payment
- About $1.3 billion, across more than 20,000 refunds, held because ACH refund information was missing
For comparison, CBP's August 25 status report, with data as of August 21, showed about $132.5 billion accepted and $106.6 billion sent to Treasury, with about $1.7 billion held for ACH.
One press report described a much lower "paid out" figure; that number conflicts with every other source and we have not used it.
What this means for importers
Most accepted refunds are moving. If yours has not arrived, missing ACH setup is the most common reason CBP has reported. See approved but not paid.
