Fortune reported on April 29, 2026 that FedEx and UPS pledged to return IEEPA tariff refunds to customers who paid tariff charges on shipments the carriers cleared. UPS estimated the amount at about $5 billion.
What this means for importers
If a carrier cleared your shipments and billed you for duties, the carrier may have been the Importer of Record. Ask it how refunds will reach you. See not the Importer of Record.
